The purpose is to train the children to become life long dwellers in the Word of God, to learn that the Word of God works, and to desire it and rely on it above anything else. Even when the training gets rough, even when the training happens in the storm and in the rain! It is surely impossible to dwell in God’s word and not be changed! What a difference it will make in your lives Guidelines: (The following is how the Bible Bowl will take place) *** Verses must be recited EXACTLY!*** Bible Bowl Events: Savings Bonds, trophies, certificates, gifts, prizes for winners and participants. Awards for most books, chapters, stories/verses read, for consistency, for effort, etc. √Bible-o-Meter: Read your Bible Daily as much as possible. Write in a notebook or journal what you learned that day- write the date and Scripture read in your journal. Record the book, chapter, story or verse you’ve read on your personal Bible O Meter and have your parent sign off. Bring it to me when you have completed a book, a chapter, a story or at least 10 verses. I’ll fill out the Bible O Meter on the wall. Please let me see your journals from time to time for bonus points for award day (Bible Bowl Day). √ Scripture Memory Competition Guidelines: The Scriptures are attached to your Bible O Meter (NIV). Work on one every 15 days. Group PK-1 The caller says the verse, leaving the last word off. The child fills in the word verbally. Group 2-3 The caller says the verse, leaving 3 words. The child fills in the words verbally. Group 4-5 The caller say the first half of the verse the child says the last half. Group 6-8 The caller says the address and the first 3 words of the verse, the child completes it, with address. Group 9 -12 The caller says the address. The child says the verse and the address. √ Bible Trivia No study guide here, just be attentive as you read. Review your journal to help you recall what you’ve read. Try to remember things like names, places, and events. √ Books of the Bible If you’d like to participate in this event, also practice reciting all books of the Bible.
