Our youth are truly on fire for the Lord. The Children and Youth Ministry offers opportunities for our kid's and teens to fellowship, grow spiritually, teach and learn from each other and reach out to the community. CYM has raised funds for St. Jude's Children Hospital. They participate in praise, worship and learning activities in weekly Bible Studies, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. CYM loves to enjoy Christian fellowship with one another through activities such as bowling, skating and lock in's.

R.E.O.C. Bible Bowl

“Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victors’ crown unless he competes according to the rules.”

2 Timothy 2:5

You cannot grow now and win without knowing and doing the word of God! Let’s start now young people! What a difference it will make in your lives

What is the Bible Bowl?

It is a year long program in which students will engage in consistently reading their Bibles/having Scripture read to them, memorizing Scripture, memorizing books of the Bible, and studying Bible Trivia to come together for a fun competition on Dec 3rd

The purpose is to train the children to become life long dwellers in the Word of God, to learn that the Word of God works, and to desire it and rely on it above anything else.  Even when the training gets rough, even when the training happens in the storm and in the rain!

It is surely impossible to dwell in God’s word and not be changed!  Parents help us get the word in all the children and youth at REOC!

Guidelines:

(The following is how the Bible Bowl will take place)

  • Once the child says the word or verse he may say ‘excuse me’ and then change answer.
  • Once the timer calls ‘time’ recite time is over. 20 secs
  • A bell will ring to signify incorrect reciting.
  • The bowl will proceed in ‘rounds’.
  • If a child misses a verse the caller will call a new verse.
  • The caller will work her way through all 25 verses and then restart them until one child is standing.
  • If a child misses a verse s/he is out if the next speller recites the verse correctly. If all children in the round miss a verse, they all come back in to the activity.

*** Verses must be recited EXACTLY!***

Bible-o-Meter:

Read your Bible Daily as much as possible. Write in a notebook or journal what you learned that day- write the date and Scripture read in your journal. Record the book, chapter, story or verse you’ve read on your personal Bible O Meter and have your parent sign off. Bring it to me when you have completed a book, a chapter, a story or at least 10 verses. I’ll fill out the Bible O Meter on the wall.  Please let me see your journals from time to time for bonus points for award day (Bible Bowl Day).

Scripture Memory Competition Guidelines:

The Scriptures are attached to your Bible O

Meter (NIV). Work on one every 15 days.

Group PK-1 The caller says the verse, leaving the last word off.  The child fills in the word verbally.

Group 2-3 The caller says the verse, leaving 3 words.  The child fills in the words verbally.

Group 4-5 The caller say the first half of the verse the child says the last half.

Group 6-8 The caller says the address and the first 3 words of the verse, the child completes it, with address.

Group 9 -12  The caller says the address. The child says the verse and the address.

Bible Trivia

No study guide here, just be attentive as you read. Review your journal to help you recall what you’ve read.  Try to remember things like names, places, and events.

Books of the Bible

If you’d like to participate in this event, also practice reciting all books of the Bible. The events will be:

  •  New Testament Reciting
  • Old Testament Reciting
  • Entire Bible Books Reciting

We’d like all to sign up for Bible-O-Meter and Scripture Memory.  You can also sign up for Trivia and Books Memorizing if you feel especially studious!

Thank You and you and when you seek God with all your heart, you will find Him. You will grow and produce good fruit for Him. He will be pleased and you will be an overcomer as you learn what His way is and do it His way!
